GOZ-Nr. 2390 „Trepanation"
ZA Zahnärztliche Abrechnungs- gesellschaft, AG · #2390
GOZ-Nr. 2390 "Trepanation" refers to the trephination (drilling/perforation) of a tooth or the crown cavity roof, and possibly perforation of a plastic tooth restoration (base filling/filling) down to the tooth cavity. Trepanation of a tooth, including primary teeth, serves to open the pulp cavity and relieve inflammatory pressure within it, thereby providing pain relief. Trepanation can initiate root canal treatment by providing direct access to the removal of the crown cavity and root canal contents. The trephination is completed with the opening of the coronal pulp cavity. Further endodontic measures are other independent services that are also billable if performed immediately following the trephination.
