Hydrofluoric acid (HF) absorbent glass powder from SCHOTT is capable of permanently binding hydrofluoric acid and permanently preventing its damaging effect on lithium-ion battery cells. SCHOTT's special glass frit binds fluorine, preventing aggressive acids in the cell and avoiding attacks on sensitive electrode materials. This purely inorganic additive helps extend battery lifetime, preserve capacity, and increase safety of cells. It is electrochemically and thermally stable in the cell, not attacked by fluorine-containing electrolytes due to its special composition, with no known interactions with other cell materials.
