Glass for Medical Devices

Glass-based optical fibers and light guides for medical device applications. Superior light performance with high color rendering index and large numerical aperture (up to 1.0). Glass fibers are strong yet flexible, enabling thin diameters (as small as 30 microns) for light guides and 4 microns for imaging applications. Stable at high temperatures up to 350°C, suitable for autoclaving sterilization at 134°C. High chemical resistance makes glass ideal for reusable medical instruments including dental instruments and endoscopes. Glass fiber bundles offer flexible design options for complex geometries and can deliver light from single light sources to multiple locations.
