ProChex is an aqueous 2% chlorhexidine digluconate solution, effective against the flora and endotoxins that contaminate the root canal system. It provides sustainable, long-term disinfection of the root canal system with a broad-spectrum bactericidal effect against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as an antifungal effect in root canal infections. It inhibits MMP activity in the hybrid layer with its chlorhexidine content, protecting the collagen network. This helps increase the adhesion of root canal sealers to the root canal walls. ProChex does not contain any surfactant agents, so it does not adversely affect the bond strength of restorations. Additionally, it has low toxicity due to the absence of additives. It eliminates microorganisms on the dentine surface in vital teeth.
