Successful endodontic treatment requires sufficient, straight-line access to the root canal. It permits needed visualization, improves irrigation and for files to work with less friction. It is important to remove all caries and defective restorations prior to accessing the root canal system. Do not use the same bur that was used to remove caries and restorative materials when creating endodontic access.
